A Gallery of Frames

The frames shown in this gallery represent only a tiny sampling of what can be accomplished through the use of .xbp files in BluPlusPlus. Beneath each sample frame is a download link to the individual .xbp files, and any related graphic and meta.properties files to add the frame to one’s albums. All of the .xbp files contain comments to help one see the role of each filter used to build the frames. All of the filter values can be easily customized to meet individual artistic desires. Features from different frames may be combined to build a new frame, or any parts of a frame may be deleted to simplify the frame.

Most of the frames are shown with shadows. The shadow can be modified or eliminated with a simple change to the .xbp file. For more information on the .xbp properties files, refer to the XBorderFilter overview.

Some frames work only if applied against a specific colored background, or against certain patterned backgrounds. In these cases, the required coordinating background color or file is described in the .xbp file and accompanying zip file. Where specific backgrounds are suggested, those backgrounds are shown in the table cells below, and the framed image has been reduced in size to clearly show the frame against that special background.

The frames are grouped by frame style, and within each style, are given numerical identifiers.

Shadows – In addition to those below, shadows are also included with most of the frame designs. The shadow on all the frames can be turned off by simply commenting out its associated filter in the .xbp file

Borders – Borders are painted on the image itself, rather than on a frame surrounding the image

Brackets – Brackets are lines or decorations outside the image, but only in the corners

Simple Frames – Simple frames utilize only one or at most two filters (not including any shadow filter); the color of the drop-shadow in the following frames will change automatically, according to the style being used

Elaborate Frames – Elaborate frames utilize multiple XBorder filters or include text or logo filters in addition to XBorderFilter; the color of the drop-shadow in the following frames will change automatically, according to the style being used

Soft Frames – Soft frames have non-distinct edges softened through the use of blending

Oval Frames – Oval frames clip the image into an oval or clip the image corners with a given radius; the color of the drop-shadow in the following frames will change automatically, according to the style being used

Glow Frames – Glow frames are generally used with a dark background and use blending properties to give the effect of a glow around the image (the glow effect is not the same as a colored shadow)

Special Frames – These frames all involve cases where the album style or page background has been modified to coordinate with a specific frame. Two of these custom styles (hakki and scrapbook) have recently been included with BluPlusPlus. The others provide samples to illustrate what can be done with XBorderFilter.
