| Notes: | While jhead is very powerful, it is considered difficult to use because it is run from a command line, not via a user interface. As it is written in Java, it is cross-platform and runs in Windows, Mac OS X, Unix, and Linux. It is particularly useful for saving exif information from an image and restoring the same information after the image has been manipulated by software that alters exif information. | |

Detailed instructions for performing two useful manipulations (changing dates/times of image files and backup/restore of EXIF info) with Exifer are found here. Exifer is “postcardware” (one is supposed to send the author a postcard if one uses the software frequently). | |
